My first Altered Book project

For some time time now I've been wanting to try my hand at doing an "altered book"....which involves taking an actual book (preferably a hand-stitched book) and altering into a piece of art.

To my regular readers, you know that I had received a gift of a painting, which has special meaning to me, from Janell Berryman of Pumpkinseeds Originals. In return I wanted to create something for her and I wanted it to be something which was different from anything she had already done. So I created my first altered book and it's on it's way to Janell now.

I also made this silly little video and sent it to Janell as a preview and I'm sharing it with you all .....and as you will see and hear I really DID have alot of fun with this project!!! LOL!!!

P.S. I will be offering some altered books at SpookyTime Jingles!

Doing the "Happy Dance"

Some of you may know this by now....I have an "occasional" job working at a shoe store in New Hope, Pa. (New Hope Shoes...see a link on the sidebar).
These are my newest favorite shoes! The company that makes them has a slogan which I just love......"What does Happy look like?" Not only do they come in a rainbow of beautiful colors and patterns, they are soooooo comfortable that they make you want to do the "happy dance"! Currently at New Hope Shoes, there are red and orange patent (going fast) and coming soon will be metallic bronze and brown patent. Go to happylookslike.com to see all the colors! Come to New Hope and get a pair and you'll be joining me in the "Happy Dance"!

Hummingbird Challenge

At "Inspire me Thursday" the challenge was to create a hummingbird, so this is my rendition. It is currently available at my etsy shop.

Portrait of me as a child......

This past weekend I received this wonderful painting in the mail from Janell Berryman of Pumpkinseeds Originals. From the moment I had seen this painting it brought back such memories of childhood. I was always obsessed about horses and wanted to be a cowgirl and just adored Sally Starr on tv. Many hours were spent riding my Mobo pony, which was a really cool metal horse from the 1950's (that's really showing my age isn't it?). Anyway, the painting does really resemble me as a child as you'll see in the attached photo.
Janell---your painting touched my heart and I'm hanging it in a place of honor in my home----thank you!

That's me on the right----with my younger brother.

IT'S a BIRD, IT'S a PLANE............no

IT's a BLIMP ??????? It's a Direct TV bimp ???? I really don't know why this was hovering over our neighborhood, but I did think it was picture worthy.
