Beautiful December day

Today was an absoulute beautiful sunny day and my youngest daughter and I took advantage and went on a long walk. We came upon this bird standing beside the roadway soaking up the sun. I just had to take his picture....maybe an inspiration for a future Halloween character.....

After the holidays, I'll be back in the studio to finish my valentine pieces for the update....a "Love Bug" and a "Queen of Hearts" are in progress. I'll post some pictures soon.

My gift give-away!!!

In the spirit of the season, I'll be gifting the following items as my personal thank you for the support that has been shown to me over this past year. That support has come in many ways, from the encouraging words from my fellow artists and friends, to the customers who have purchased items from my collection on the internet as well as the local shops and shows.

Everyone is invited to participate!
In order to be entered into the drawing, here are the conditions...

* Visit my pages at SpookyTimeJingles and my Etsy Shop --- you're under no obligation to buy, however, I am having a sale :-} If you see something you'd like, I'd like to put it in your hands----make me a reasonable offer! -OR- to my fellow artists, make a reasonable trade offer! It's my way of dealing with this economy ---barter!

* Leave a comment on my blog.... I would really appreciate your critique of my work! Let me know what you'd like to see in 2009!

* Promise to visit my blog often and leave me a comment every now and then. You can even sign up for email delivery of my posts.

I'll put all the names into a bowl and pick 2 winners on Sunday, December 21st!!! Check back here to see the winners.

That's it!!! Now for my gifts...

Sculpted from paperclay, this little cutie fits nicely on a windowsill .... and can be displayed all winter long!!!

This is a flattened glass ornament that I covered with real silver leaf, antiqued and filled with text on velum paper, added a trim of vintage glitter and the finished result looks like the vintage mercury glass ornaments!

WIP and our... Adoption

A peek at some works in progress.....some for and others for an upcoming show.

The face that only a "mother" could love? This has got to be the largest algae eater that I've ever seen! Some friends who also have a pond and rasied this guy from a wee little thing asked if we could please give him an inside home for the winter as he is somewhat of a tropical fish and would never be able to withstand the winter chill. We agreed, and set up another aquarium to house this fish which I do find to be wierdly cute!

More Halloween Decorating

If you haven't brought out that box of Halloween decorations yet.....I hope this can be of some inspiration to you. This first picture is of a Halloween vignette that I created in our living room and I had posted it on my Flicker at the beginning of October. I'm amazed at the response this has received---to date over 300 views!

Another vignette----the witches have captured some unsuspecting trick-or-treaters in a glass bubble!

My rather humble Halloween tree that I made from a recycled/reclaimed Easter tree. I just started collecting ornaments for Halloween so I don't have many and the ones you see are mostly the ones I've made for SpookyTimeJingles (which if you go there you could get one for yourself !)

My collection of primitive dolls greet trick-or-treaters--- some I've made and others were gifts from friends.

Our weekend

This past weekend's fall weather was the perfect background for outdoor parties. Jim and I were invited to attend a neighbor's twin 3 year olds birthday party and the Hurlz-it was a huge source of fun once again for both young and old! We're on the A-list now!! If you are a regular reader of my blog you've seen this Hurlz-it demo in a past post.

Then on Sunday we had another surprize birthday party for our Aunt Betty who turned 85! I just had to share some pictures of this day with you as this is a woman who is on the go all the time. There is a friend in the family who restores old cars and motorcycles and one day he was showing Betty his latest restoration which was a Harley with a sidecar! She mentioned that she had never ridden in a motorcycle sidecar. So for her birthday he would take her for a ride and since this was a surprize party....this is how she would arrive! We gathered at the end of the lane and waited for her entrance and yelled SURPRIZE!

Like I said she is a woman that can't be stopped...she got up to the dance floor several times dancing the jitterbug and this time with one of her great-grandsons.

Even sang karaoke with her two daughters!

**A toast to Betty** you are certainly an inspiration to me and I'm sure there are many others who feel the same way!

The Trades have arrived!

I participated in the First Annual "Tombstone Trade" which was hosted by Dani of "Ambitions Design". We were to sculpt from clay a small tombstone with a Halloween theme and send it to our trade partner.

My partner was Jenny of "The Polka Dot Pixie"! Feast your eyes on this wonderful piece of artwork and try not to drool!

She even worked in her signature polka dots.....on the hat!

OH! I have to show you this.....
From the minute the package arrived at my house, I just knew that what was inside was going to be special. To me, presentation is everything....and Jenny does do it up special. Even the wrapping was polka dots! I just love it!

If you'd like to see more of Jenny's art, check out her Etsy Shop, and of course she is a fellow artist at Spooky Time!

BUT WAIT!!!! There's more.....

I also participated in a Halloween ACEO Swap that was also hosted by Dani of Ambitions Design (YES, this girl is a busy bee! LOL!) Each artist created 2 aceo's with a Halloween theme and traded with 2 other artists.

My partner, Sandra of " Babycakes Doodles & Designs sent me these 2 awesome aceo's! Her art is so spooky fun and the expressions just crack me up! They look great in my halloween collection!

My second partner was Melissa of "Honey Girl Studio" and she also sent me 2 aceo's! Melissa's work is always a treat and so well designed and now I have 2 great pieces to add to my collection!
Melissa is also a fellow artist at "Spooky Time"!

Thank you girls for making these swaps so much FUN! I will treasure all your creations!...... ((((group HUG)))) !!!!
